Community Profile

Glennstone offers the convenience to the city and the beauty and peacefulness of the rural farmland on which it is built. When completely built out the neighborhood will contain 215 single family homes, on 160 + acre tract. More than 100 acres will be kept as open space for a nature preserve, walking trails, and picnic areas.



Glennstone is host to nature expeditions through the preserve led my volunteers from the Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting and enjoying the beauty of the nature preserve, which was donated by Cimarron Homes.

Cimarron Homes of Durham creates permanent amenity...

Cimland LLC; a subsidary of Cimarron Homes in Durham donated 83 acres of land adjacent to it’s Glennstone community To an environmental group, Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association , for a nature preserve. In addition, Cimarron Homes donated $12,000, to the association for the Preserve’s Maintenance endowment and has bought memberships To the ECWA for the communities present and future home- Owners.

Some of the many benefits for the Glennstone homeowner’s Includes convenient nature trails for exercise and pleasure, educational signage and periodic nature walks to learn more about the natural and cultural heritage of the preserve and nearby Ellerbe Creek. ECWA will provide free consultation, with the homeowners association on maintaining and improving the appearance of Glennstone stormwater installations as well as the Greenspace managed by the Glennstone Homeowner’s Association.

ECWA is currently marking trail routes, doing wildlife and plant inventories and developing a management plan for the preserve. There will be scheduled workdays for volunteers of the Durham community as well as the Glennstone homeowners to help implement ECWA’s plans.

This partnership between Cimarron Homes and ECWA demonstrates how business and environmental groups can work together to improve quality of life for community residents, by creating walkable communities that provide a healthy habitat for both people and wildlife.
